PARISH HAPPENINGS

“We do mission!”

August 1, 2010

ALL:

It has been one year since the Lord sent us Pastor Sarah Cordray, along with her husband AIM Nick, and their children, Nathaniel and Samantha. We give a prayer of thanksgiving for the wonderful spirit Pastor Sarah and Nick have injected into us and the grace we are blessed with in their attendance. God bless you, Cordrays’!

Last reminder about your meat choice sign ups for the August 15th Tri-County Annual Worship and Picnic at Sullivan Hills. Please make them out and place them in the offering plates, or hand them to the Minister. They are due on August 8th, earlier if possible. We are also asked to bring lawn chairs, if it is convenient for you, table service ,and a vegetable, salad or dessert to share.

Remember to ask a friend to come to worship and eat with you and share the day with all our church family in the Parish. Your friends are our friends and they are welcome to share our day.

If you need a ride to Sullivan Hills Camp that day, all you have to do is tell Pastor, Marilyn, or anyone on the Tri-County council and we will see to it that you and your guests will get there and back safely

Another item that we want you to bring on August 25th to Sullivan Hills is a good pie or dessert for auction. There will be a Pie and Dessert Auction following the picnic, and the proceeds will go to the Tri-County Youth Fund. April Misegadis and Misty Michaelman are in charge of this event, so call and see if you can assist them in any way. TC Youth Fund is for such activities as the recent Mission Trip to the Denver area for our Confirmation youth. Casper Corfield is auctioneer. This is a different twist on a bake sale!!!

Congratulations to the Jordon Namuth family on the birth of a new baby girl. Her name is Taryn. She is the granddaughter of Stacy and Todd Namuth of St. Mark’s and the great-granddaughter of Barb and Delbert Namuth of Gloria Dei, and Gene and Mary Guenin of Oshkosh.

What Is Alpha?

Alpha is an opportunity to explore the meaning of life in a relaxed, friendly setting. The Alpha course will meet once per week for 10 weeks, and may include an amazing one-day or weekend getaway. Each session, people enjoy great food, laughter and learning in a fun and friendly atmosphere where no question about life or God is seen as too simple or too hostile…questions like—Is there a God? Why am I here? Where did I come from? Where am I going? All this and more will be discussed in total and in smaller groups.

Starting on Wednesday, September 29th, Pastor Sarah will lead us in an Alpha course. Sign-up sheets will be available to everyone for this great opportunity to learn. Keep watching for more information. This is a wonderful opportunity to eat, converse, enjoy fellowship and learn.
